Standard Of Officials In The Premier League

Several bizzare Reffereing decisions this weekend. Two incidents at Goodison Park on saturday , firstly Everton had a perfectly good goal ruled out for offside then the "penalty" incident where Felliani clearly handled the ball from anywhere between 5 yards and 1 yard inside the box depending on which tv channel or morning paper you watch / read, in full view of the ref who was just yards away and the linesman who just stood motionless and a "freekick" was awarded 2 yards outside the penalty area.
Now this afternoon Norwich City`s goalkeeper has been sent off ....... for what ?

The refs are so bad it is crappity smacking unreal ....... or is there more to it ? Is it evening up time of the season ?

Its about time they brought in a Video Ref like in Rugby.. sod all this fookin lets have goal line technology

Yes saw that Fillyarnie 'penalty' clearly in the area.

Not sure but didn't the ref award the foul for an incident just before, out of the area, - thus nullifying Fellyovers handball?

It is a Catch 22 situation really, hardly any players go into reffing after their playing career is over yet they have a fair few years left in a lot of cases.

Why, because thet can't hack the crap some of the players give them, - they get let off for an 'incident' with a three match holiday, that is all it is.

Yes I think refs and officials have been ultra crap this season but I honestly believe it all starts with the players, they are conning refs all the time. Just my view for what it is worth

oh, where's Joff, cant believe derby, my team, who are shite, beat those with prem league aspirations. jeez, i thought the prem league was bad, but the championship, well that was proper crap last night lol

The ref in the Wigan v Newcastle game was a total disgrace and should be kicked out!

Both matches on Sky this afternoon Sunderland v Norwich and Wigan v Newcastle had an appalling standard of officiating , this weekend has truely seen dire performances from the officials. Too bad to be true ?

Then again it is THAT time of the season when a few favours are called in

My youngest is a ref and officiates in junior games. The amount of grief that he gets from adults who should know better is unreal. The ref gets a totally different view of the action than someone on the sidelines. It sounds odd, but sometimes you can be too close to the action to see exactly what is happening. On the above one, like Bill I thought he had whistled for the offence just outside the box - which also looked a bit handball.

Still a bit baffling when most of em in the premier league cant see crappity smack all from within 10 yards vision though !

Wigan chairman Dave motormouth Whelan has said his players tackle on the Newcastle player which nearly cut him in half was "fair"

However the view from the sidelines, opposite to the ref, meaning that I could see what he couldn't, was that the defender had used his hand, making it a shove and a penalty. Not too many protests though as it was a very sneaky push. The TV and multiple camera angles would have had a field day.

Fair point trypewriter and i know where you are coming from

But ...... the officials in the premier league are miked up and are in constant dialogue with the fourth official who has a tv monitor covering ALL angles of the game ....... this in itself makes how the refs perform in general even more baffling because they have the technology at all times but still turn in p!ss poor performances ! Dont forget they are very highly paid professionals these days aswell

I think that's the difference between football and rugby - the ref on the pitch doesn't definitely have to see the incident in rugby. And in respect of foul play when no action was taken at the time, a player can be cited and banned, unlike the FA's recent (today) decision.

JUST SEEN THIS TAFF WE ARE DOG SH#T at the minute and unless we pull our socks up we wont make the play-off and to be fair those that only get through by the play-offs should go into a league like the premiership as they are not good enough

But by and large there performances in what is supposed to be the best league in the world and the huge amounts of money involved plus the whole product being broadcast live every other day generating millions and millions of pounds they are sh!t !

What's the answer kiddo ?? They can only make a decision on what they see in a split second the TV pundits have all the technology of slowing it down and replays and are not qualified as referrees even if you had two on the pitch nothing would change

They should be better than what they are. They were crap years ago when they were part time and just loved being on telly and grabbing all the attention . Now they are full time highly paid professional and they are even worse , even with modern technology they are still blind as crappity smack or worse

The Newcastle defenders leg is so bad they cant diagnose the severity of the damage to it as the leg cant be straightened yet and the FA arent going to take any action against the Wigan player according to Sky Sports news this evening ........ what a crappity smack joke !

Im off for a pint crappity smack it !
