Al - its more a 'silvers lake with carp' than the more common 'carp lake with silvers'. We are told there is a good head of bream which run to 9-10lb. Dave & I pleasure fished it early season last year and caught skimmers, ide, tench, roach and the odd better bream(to 5lb), plus every now and then a decent carp (to 7lb) - all very enjoyable and as far as I can remember we ended up with about 50lb each (or was it 70lb?). However when it came our match last October the first frosts had already happened, and catches were much lower - mainly made up of ide, occasional roach/skimmers and only a few people managed the odd carp (incl a 17lber for mugger!).
At this time of year I hope we will do a lot better - tactics? - I guess fish for silvers esp bream and enjoy the odd carp if/when they join in?
The usual baliff is away and the stand in doesn't do breakfasts . There is I understand a cafe 1/4 mile down the road which you can use if you want to but Im not going to bother, so will be arriving at the lake just after 8am to sort the pegs and do the draw at 8.30.
No but its to comply with new EU Health and saftey rules which state that as organiser I must not be involved in supplying you all with the opportunity to partake of unhealthy cholesterol raising food.
In future all breakfasts on Marsh matches will consist of Muesli, fat free yogurt and salads. My only problem is now trying to book a fishery that does them.
Ok Paul its obvious that you really do want to fish Holly Farm so Ive removed your name from the our list and PM'd Bucko to tell him you are going to Holly Farm.
He does have a space as someone has dropped out so you will be in a team. Good luck and I hope you draw near Genus9 again.
