dodge i take my hat off to you and your lads Image Image we went through the same in the super league final :-[ :-[most of the lads counld'nt get time off or were on holiday and as you know the result showed
but at least we turned up and gave it our best shot Image
i hope i have turned the corner and have increased the team so if anyone do's not fancy a venue or work has to come first i can have a squad for most matches
the days of falling out because you have been dropped have gone and now team meetings are done mostly on the phone or after matches
some times we all forget fishing is a hobby and should be enjoyed Image

If teams went backwards to the days of say 15 men squads angling in the country would go forward, the England team especially.

Wise words worth thinking about.

agreed on that one mr yards Image . teams of ten , max squad 15 , leagues fished on natural venues lake , river and canal ,like the old border league from 15/20 years ago Image (great days Image) (but no more Image). maybe its time for a revival of sorts. as for england improving their chances in the future, why dont we start inviting all the italian and french internationals over to fish the ditches everyweek so we knacker their chances up Image just a thought but what is hook a duck fishing in french and italian?

bill it will never go back to 15 members non of us can afford to fish two team matches in one weekend bye that i mean big team matches in different areas say one on the weaver and one on the soar i have to pick some for one and some for the other you might get one or two of the lads fish both but not ten very often
this how ivan got around teams
take our super league round on lakeview it will be like the uk champs all over again but if i don't follow suit we would be last but one thing is for shore all the anglers fishing for leicester don't fish for anyone else
ivans little black book still has its uses Image Image

and you have to remember that you win nothing in the super league until you are in the final Image

Joff,
I meant if EVERY team went back to 15 in a squad not just the Leicester Mars Bars Image Image
Surely this would be beneficial all round for any future England set-up.
OK agreed they are doing OK at the moment but what about ten years down the line. Image Image
I havn't got a crystal ball and who knows what the future holds.
We at Eclipse struggle to get ten at times but two team National gongs in three years must prove something. Image Image Image Don't ask how we did on the other year1 Image

i see what you mean back in the old days we did'nt have commercials and your squad fished rivers and canals and most of the team could handle that
but today most semis and finals look to be going to commercials
a lot of anglers are now born and breed on commercials and fish them 3 or 4 times a week and to keep in touch you have to include them in your squads and that means bigger teams Image

So its the Bridgy in Manchester this sunday for the Drennan superleague practice  Image Image

Edge lane bridge Stretford (think i drew there a couple of months ago  ;) ) to the gas works Trafford Park  Image

The permenant pegs are closer than on a commercial, there will be at least 40 boats all doing 20mph,only 20 ASBO`s have been served this week....... some good news tho ..... the cormorants have had a rest all week, they have mainly stayed in Salford Quays !!!!!     Image Image Image     Image

I have been down for a walk on the way home from work Lloydy, plenty of fish topping on the boats at edge lane and at the yuppies and rathbones, didnt manage to get up to the gasworks. To be honest the length being used is not the best stretch of the bridgy, but it is where all the bigger matches in recent years have been fished........ the end pegs will be good..... permanent pegs 350, 390 & 391 plus all the boat pegs at edge lane 351 - 360 , the tree pegs 372 & 373 could throw up anything and look really good and the yuppies to rathbones 380 - 388 usually fish well this time of year. Probably 10lb-15lb will win but if the bream show on a couple of pegs 20lb plus could win. The pegs i have mentioned are permanent pegs !!!  sometimes they paper peg it to give a bit more room  ;)  Image

Nice one Lloydy  Image  funny that mate coz hughesie also told Rob Middleton peg 10 was crap and you both came 1st & 2nd in the match  Image   Image Image

Seriously tho ...... i bagged up with roach for 3 and a half hours and also suffered a terrible last hour and a half  Image ended up with 7.3.0.

I think a B/Joker match on there in a few weeks time would see some fabulous fishing  ;)

I had a proper mixed day on this penulitmate round at heronbrook  Image

I drew on canal peg 2, the venue fished ridiculously difficult for most i think, i caught nearly all my fish from a line were i hardly fed anything, but on the lines i did feed i just had an odd liner or foulhooker  Image. I framed in an 80 pegger at heronbrook last year with 75lb of F1s but the venue has changed hugely since then and apart from meadow pool, putting 50lb together is a huge challenge. The main frame on my Milo seatbox came apart where it used to be welded together  Image which meant a very uncomfortable 5 hours leaving me almost sea sick  Image  i was also left holding about 8 inches of my no4 section which snapped when i was playing a psycho 6lb carp which was hooked in the nether regions, just managed to grab what was left of my top kit as it started to vanish across my peg  :D  the fish was still on luckily   Image . I ended up with just 25lb for good points beating Englands Stu Conroy off the next peg   ;) Image.
I left before the results were announced but word was Taypot had done the buisness again   ;)

I had a better day than you by the sounds of it Dodge! Weighed 51-9-0 and couldnt believe that was enough for 2nd in the match! Drew Peg 12 on Island and had to share the raised bar with two anglers opposite as they'd put 14 pegs on the lake instead of the 7 in the previous round. Just had a nice day catching small F1s up and down and down the edge. It was flat calm most the day with high pressure so was never going to fish great.

Surprised only one angler topped 60lb off the section on Meadow, especially with Drennan Team Ringers' Andy May on there! Im just glad we managed to be a point off the top 'without' having to resort to ringers!
