just a thought jon do you win any money for winning a round of your winter league we don't in fact you don't win nothing apart from a place in the semi and winter leagues are team matches

and lets be right here its aquatic bingo everyone will have the same chance of winning if they draw a peg you won't win off a bad peg and thats a fact Image
what we are doing as a team is pooling all the money[individual and section] we win and sharing it between the team as its a team match Image

I can get 54 cans of carling at Sainsburys for £20!

I can get 54 cans of Carling for nothing from Peg 76 on your canal mate! They're all empty though...

Yes, the top team each round get money in our division. Our old Shroppy AT division didn't though and i was never really sure where the money went on that league! A team-of-10 AT league is very different to a teams of 4/5/6/8 league. Its obviously a personal view but I cant understand why any 'team' league puts all the emphasis on the the individual glory. The cynic in me often thinks its because the organiser/committee's team doesnt believe it will win any of the rounds! Ha ha! Image

Paying the top two teams will see 16 more anglers benefit and thats surely a good thing when so many anglers are turning their back on these sort of matches because its getting too expensive for them. Just one person benefits with a £350 win and I'm sure he/she would be just as happy if it was £200. I think it also helps to encourage a bit of team spirit too rather than glory hunting for a top-7 prize.

Its obviously just one person's opinion but I think (as long as you dont water down the prizes too much) the more people that can benefit the better for the sport.
its aquatic bingo everyone will have the same chance of winning if they draw a peg you won't win off a bad peg and thats a fact

More the reason to put some money into a team pool methinks!

By the way, I'm not making any of these suggestions for my own gain. I'm not a match angler for the money and hopefully never will be! Im just trying to give a completely unselfish perspective to keep the average punter happy. I dont mind if anyone disagrees with my thoughts. Its Joffs league after all and he's the boss...

I think it is only fair to respect how organisers run and payout their own matches.

Organisers do tend to run them differently in different areas of the country; it has always been like this and probably always will.

In all cases it is the right way to do them in their (organisers) book.

At the end of the day nobody is forcing anybody to fish any match anywhere, it is as simple as that.

Anyway, what about the bonus peg? Image Image Image

I think it depends on the match. I will happily share on a teams of 3 or 4. My team does that on Woodhouse's league and I reckon it works best if the teams stays pretty much the same throughout. I agree that pooling up brings out the best in a team as long as you're not carrying anyone. A section win gets a tad diluted when there's 8 to 10 anglers, though!

I agree that pooling up brings out the best in a team as long as you're not carrying anyone.

Thats why it dont work if you look each season especially worm and joker you see anglers that have great runs and win lots then the season after they win nothing, as you have said this season Jon it is either feast or famine for you. Rocko walked the bank last week and we had a good conversation in the pub after about what he had seen.

wooden spoon well the organiser never wins so he will always get the wooden spoon
mystery fish will never work the canal is too close to tesco's fish counter
biggest next peg bashing that would be woodhouse if he's still got that knicker laggy in Image
longest walk can only be beaten by the angler that has to carry the scales as well
biggest tangle that would be won by two anglers fishing the same bush
moan of the match DAVE KIMBER without a dought close second would be the grim reaper[tooney]both would just turn up to win this award each week Image
ugliest man on the bank Image Imagenow that would be the hardest one but woodhouse would be close Image
