Hants wilts and Dorset winter league
Hows everyone got on today?
I've just put our results on the winter league blog on the GoFishing site:
http://www.gofishing.co.uk/fishingforum ... rt-page=20
Here we go then, the results for the 2nd round of the Hants wilts and Dorset winter league fished today on the Kennet and Avon Canal at Great Bedwin:
!st Graham Tappenden Mosella Eastleigh 8.6.8- Gudgeon and roach caught on a top 3 from peg H6
2nd Will Bonnie Garbolino BVMG 7.3.8 240 roach and a 1lb perch on squatt at 7-9 M peg H3
3rd Steve Nadin SPRO Dorset Raiders 6.0.0 roach and a 1lb perch from peg H4
4th Alan Hillman TVAC 5.14.0
5th Dwain Seed TVAC 5.9.0
6th Chris Albiston SPRO Dorset Raiders 5.2.0
I was drawn in on J6 an end peg in the section but right next to K1 so no real advantage. When we all got to the section which was at frog lane we found the canal to be down 18” on last weeks level, exposing both near and far shelves, and with the clear water it didn’t look too inviting, however fish were topping along the length so it wouldn’t be as bad as it looked
Rigs I set up, from near side:
· 0.4 garbolino DS9 0.09-0.06-22 Image IM1 for top3 and 1 section added
· 4x14 garbolino DC11 0.12-0.10-18 drennan maggot-chopped worm at 6 sections at an angle into deeper water
· 4x12 garbolino DC10 0.09-0.06- 24 IM1 bulk 3 droppers, bottom far shelf at 8.5M-squatt and pinkie
· 4x10 garbolino DC10 0.09-0.06- 24 IM1 bulk 3 droppers,up far shelf at 9-10M-squatt and pinkie
· 4x8 garbolino DC10 0.09-0.06- 24 IM1 strung shottop far shelf at 10M-squatt and pinkie
· 12ft microlight with 2bb image squatt waggler 0.07-20 drennan wide gape pole, for chucking across and down the peg with caster( it worked well last week)
I fed the inside line with 1 ball G/B ( VDE supercup and supermatch) base of far shelf with 3 balls and 1 section further with 1 loose ball and ½ cup of hemp
I started on the chopped worm at 6 sections and had 1 perch about 2oz in 10 mins then went to 4 sections with the 0.4g float and had about 20-30 perch roach and gudgeon, before moving to base of the far shelf to contiue catching . After 2 hours I refed the worm line and then had 12 perch in 12 chucks, mostly small1-3 oz jobbies with one about 7-8oz. Then went back to catching the roach at 8.5M and then added a section to continue catching.
In all I fed about 2/4kg GB and 3/4 pt white squatts
The Canal came up 1ft during the match,
I ended with 120 fish for 5.0.0 and second in the section, beaten by Chris albiston from Raiders on the furthest end peg wit 5.2.0.
The other weights in the section from me down to Chris were 2.0.0, 1.7.0 0.10.0, and 1.6.0
Overall we (Garbolino BVMG) had 45 points for 1st

LOL you tight git, don`t you take more than one slice??
Hants wilts and Dorset winter league
No pretty regimented pattern

Hants wilts and Dorset winter league
I'm not that tight Chris!!... I took two slices, and I swapped to the second one in the last 1/2 an hour, I'm gutted really as looking at the picture above, i have missed a fair bit at the sides, I reckon I could have done 200 fish from one slice, hay ho...... anyway waste no want not I brought them both back to liquidise for next week...
Hants wilts and Dorset winter league
Results for the 3rd round of the Hants wilts and Dorset winter league fished today on the Kennet and Avon Canal at Pewsey:
1st Simon Dennis SPRO Dorset Raiders 5.7.0- Roach caught on Punch at 6M plus Squatt at 12M caster at 13M from peg J1 Wilcott
2nd = Rich Chave Garbolino BVMG 5.3.0 100 Roach caught on Punch at 4&7 sections from peg J6 Wilcott
2nd= Mark Cannings Salisbury 5.3.0 Roach caught on punch from peg K6 Wilcott
4th Ben Dukes Garbolino BVMG 4.15.0 Roach & Skimmers caught on Punch Peg
E4 Bristows wides
5th Rob Randall Garbolino BVMG 4.7.0 Roach and a 1 ½ lb skimmer caught on punch Peg A2 Pains Bridge
6th Rob Manns Garbolino BVMG 4.1.0 Roach on punch + skimmers and pech on chopped worm Peg D6 The Boats
I was drawn in on J6 an end peg in the section but right next to K1 so no real advantage. It was 2 pegs past the broken bridge above Wilcott road bridge
Rigs I set up, from near side:
· 0.4 garbolino DS9 0.09-0.06-22 Image IM1 for top3 and 1 section added for Punch
· 0.4 garbolino DS9 0.09-0.06-22 Image IM1 for top3 and 4 sections added for Punch
· 4x14 garbolino DC11 0.12-0.10-18 drennan maggot-chopped worm at 6 sections at an angle into deeper water
· 4x12 garbolino DC10 0.09-0.06- 24 IM1 bulk 3 droppers, bottom far shelf at 7 sections-squatt and pinkie
· 4x10 garbolino DC10 0.09-0.06- 24 IM1 bulk 3 droppers,up far shelf at 8 sections-squatt and pinkie
· 4x10 garbolino DC10 0.12-0.08- 20 Series 2 strung shot top caster across 8 sections
I started on the punch close after feeding a ball of liquidised bread about the size of a kiwi fruit and had 35 fish in the first hour for maybe 2lb
Then alternated between the two punch lines as the boats became more frequent
Afer a couple of hours tried the squatt, over but it wasn’t any quicker than the bread, although I was getting a few small perch which I wouldn’t have had on bread.
The canal slowed right down after 2 hours and it became a matter of rotating between the lines till the end, as you couldn’t catch more than 2-3 fish of each line.
At the end I had exactly 100 fish, mostly roach for 5.3.0 and was 2nd in the section, beaten by Simon Dennis off the end peg. With 5.7.0 who had similar stamp fish to mine. We were supprised that we came 1st and 2nd albeit equal second with Mark cannings from the end peg in K section.
The Canal fished worse than the previous weeks practice maybe due to all the extra cold rain water that’s gone into it this week.
Getting back to the pub I found that we had done well, with 6 section wins 2 seconds a 3rd and a 4th to record 53 points

well done rich.

Hants wilts and Dorset winter league
Thanks Ian
I weighed 5.3.0 of fish today... could have had double figures of Leafs!!!!
Bloody things. I had to ship out with the bait above the water and lower it through gaps between the leafs. I'm sure I would have won if they weren't there

4th Paul Barnard Salisbury 55.6.0 Carp Peg 14 Kings Lake
5th Simon Dennis SPRO Dorset Raiders 53.2.0 Carp from peg 15 Kings Lake
6th Rob Randall Garbolino BVMG 49.4.0 Carp from peg 23 Kings Lake
I was drawn in on C2 Permanent peg 16 on the carp filled Kings Lake
Rigs I set up:
· 4x14 Preston Durafloat 6, 0.14 –16 Colmic 501 for 6M to a tree that had slipped into the water- Black Hydro—Used but no bites
· 4x14 garbolino DC11 0.12- 18 Gamakatsu Pellet – Grey Hydro with a milo pull bung—3 carp on Expander pellet ,pulled out of a foul hooker on way back
· 4x12 garbolino DC11 0.14 –16 Gamakatsu Pellet – Grey Hydro with a milo pull bung—Not used
· 13ft Normark Titan 2000- 4lb Berkley trilene-0.12-18 Comic 501 4AAA Peacock waggler for Maggot or banded pellet--,used but no bites
· 11ft MAP Ultra11 Feeder rod with inline method feeder 5lb Korum Line-preston quick change bead-0.16 –18 and then 20 Drennan eyed carp hook Double dead or floating red maggots—6 Carp didn’t lose any
I started on the Method feeder clipped up towards the middle with double dead red after 40 mins had my first carp about 3lb and by 1 ½ hours in had 3. People were catching on the pole by this time so swapped to 13M were I had been dripping in a few 4mm pellets. In an hour I had 2 carp and pulled out of one (probably foul hooked?) The middle of the match was dire and I tried the 6M Line, waggler and Feeder without success, however with an hour to go I had a bit on the feeder and had a further 3 fish along with one on the pole last cast to total 9 in all. For 40.2.0
I was 3rd in the section, beaten by Simon Dennis off peg 1. With 53.2.0 who had similar stamp fish to mine, except for 2 large ones of 10lb and 12lb 14oz And Garry Naylor who although was admitting to not having 40lb weighed 63.12.0 from the other end peg 6. the other weights in the section were 9.11.0, 9.8.0 and 5.11.0 so I was 30lb ahead of 4th and 13lb behind 2nd!!
All the weights came from the carp dominated Kings lake although the bream on Embley feed in places and there was a 47lb top weight from there. 19lb was top on Willow Lake which was a 14lb carp and 5 lb of roach. The carp put the captor up from last to first in section and was caught in the last 10mins and it had a impact on the team result as it was caught by a SPRO Dorset Raiders angler
