I fished the open at blundells yesterday which had hit top form during the week. Blundells is attracting good turn outs of 50 plus regularly with its varied fishing and lots of different methods working. It was warm tee shirt weather up here yesterday with a blue sky and no wind which makes a change for this very exposed venue ! No brown envelope for me this week ....... i weighed 45.2.0 for i think 3rd on my lake, a very slow first 90 minutes cost me dearly ...... no indications on the "method" and just 4 fish on the long pole line were my rewards !! Eventually a few turned up on the 12 mtr line and i ended up with 2 good bream, a 2lb tench, a single 4lb carp and 62 ide. Weird thing about my match was i was mega confident of catching shallow with the favourable weather conditions but they just wouldnt have it on the lake i was on which slowed my catch rate considerably ...... caught 80% of my fish on the deck in 10 ft of water including a bream around 3lb plus which came flying out of the water from the depths and shed the hook !
Result
1st K Kirkwood 122.5.0
2nd P Cunniffe 77.4.0
3rd J Kerwin 69.0.0
4th A Howarth 58.1.0
5th S Carroll 55.6.0
There is over £1000 up for grabs tomorrow (bank holiday monday) for all the lads who have qualified through finishing in the top 3 in the venue opens since xmas .......
