So someone from another team told someone from my team who told you that they said that you should be banned! Could it be the first ever case of chinese whispers in match fishing? Image Image Image

As far as I am concerned crappity smack 'em off if they walk in a match.

That went out FIFTEEN years ago.

Why has it suddenly come back?

There is good money involved; give everyone an EQUAL CHANCE.

crappity smack 'em off. crappity smack 'em off, - I s'pose I'm yellow stream again.

Just imagine 700 standing behind some poor crappity smack in the Div One.

crappity smack 'em off.

One reason is because some top anglers only sit on their box if theyre on a shedful and arent prepared to work at it if they arent. If someone a few pegs away is catching more these guys are off their box like lightning so at least they have an excuse for not catching. Its easy to go back to the pub and say, "Joe Bloggs beat me but I only fished for 2 hours." I know some very high profile anglers like this and i honestly believe they are embarassed if someone beats them fair and square off the next peg. Walking or packing up are their ways to avoid it.

What has now happened is impressionable younger anglers think it must be the done/cool thing to follow suit, there's a knock-on effect and suddenly there's a mass exodus when people can't catch instantly. Its also a culture of instant gratification where many people arent prepared to graft for their rewards.

When I started canal fishing the best anglers like Norman Carpenter never walked (do what you want on an individual i suppose) unless it was an absolute no-hoper of a day eg. the last round we fished at Barston with 41 blanks out of 60!

There is always something else you can try to get a bite. Sit on a caster/worm/, try a bunch of bloodworm, search right down the peg, put on an extra light rig, fish well off the deck, put some bread in, feed some cloud/dye, chop some bait up, try tight across up the rat holes, start feeding pinches of bait to spark something into feeding. The walkers are simply giving up because they dont like grafting for bites or dont know how to.

Aye up John,

I honestly thought 'walking' was a thing of the past after plenty of commotion some fiteen years back when some really top canal boys used this type of gamesmanship for there own ends. Personally I think it a form of 'cheating' and MUST be clamped on. I see nothing wrong with matchmen that want to pack up at any time, (open or league matches!) if they want as long as they crappity smack off and don't disturb others.

The NFA (Angling Trust) have 54 rules in force, most based on loopholes being blocked after running Nationals for over 100 years. Fot the life of me I can not see anything wrong with us all adopting these Rules, they are done for the good of the game.

Unfortunately the word 'friendly' and matchmen competing for each others money is a very bad marriage and while money is at stake the practise of 'walking' MUST be abolished for all time; it is a loophole to 'cheat'.

OK, say we don't use the NFA Rules as a guide. Let's say give everyone ONE yard between the pegs and they can be as 'friendly' as they like, no need to 'walk' and we can crappity smack up each others peg whenever we want.

I walked last sat the very first time in a league match, i wouldn't have had a problem if i was disqualified as i would have deserved it. It wasn't done for any gain just that i was sat behind a high wall and was froze where as in the sun it was warmer, i'm 100% with Bill and Endpeg BAN walking.

I would honestly not have a problem saying ban walking on matches

what i am saying is that if it isn't a rule people can't decide at the end of a match that they want you banned for somethin youv'e done that isn't a rule before

If Lee were to turn round and say that bankwalkers will be banned before a match - my wobbly cheeks would be glued to my box - and after last match it will be anyway it's the first time i've done it more than likely the last after the commotion its caused

I've walked on a match once in my life ..... i'm not a fan ..... but if its not a rule before a match then there can be no complaints and an angler is within their rights  to do it unfortunately ... it isn't like i made a nuisance of myself, i wear all black i walked str8 past people i wasn't goin to stop n talk to, n knelt down or lay on the bank round people i was going to stay and talk to Image

If anyone felt that i was walking on the last Hankat round 2 hamper them i apologise but i always try n make as little a shadow on the water in any one elses peg as i feel casting a big shadow is very unfair

make it a rule BEFORE the match and then there can be complaints  :-X

I'm fishing against 90% of anglers on the bank bein better than me

It's to try and better myself ... one excuse for not beating them only comes from me

"they outfished me i need to try harder next time" .....

I don't belive its kool or that its the way to go incase that is miss construed by anybody at all Image

Just to clear that up Image

See u all Sunday tight lines ! :) :) :) :) :)
