Individually, Shaky's Tom Lane, grandson of the late great Billy, won with this superb 44-1-0 of perch!
Tom used a 6g flat float and lobworm and fished a great match. How do I know? Cos I was next to him!
Thankfully my 18-15-0 catch of perch got me second in section and the section prize!
IND RESULT
Tom Lane (75) 44-1-0
Spud Murphy (91) 34-4-0
Terry Parrott (90) 32-4-0
Dave Roberts (96) 31-4-0
Stu Harford (87) 27-8-0
Harry reckoned he caught all of his fish out of Tom's peg pretty much (i.e.. fishing right at the end of his).
Not as many as in previous years is the answer - remember Adey Whittle catching 56lb.
I've had near 30lb in the past on about 30 lobbies there ... would've emptied it if I'd had more worms :(
Railings pegs are a pretty sure bet for them - and the rowing club peg (65) can sometimes show up - but not yesterday. Proper billies, come out all bristling and lovely colours.
What a venue, a couple of years ago i had 27lb of them off peg 65 made up of about 12 fish and off the same peg had a 3lb 8oz fish. They are now shoaling up ready for spawning and wouldnt be surprised over the next 3 weeks that an even bigger weight isnt caught had the river been lower and clearer Tom would have caught more. Well done Tom
