The whole idea of building these extra marinas, re BW, is to house the rows of moored boats that line the normal canals in areas, we have three and more are planned round here, they can not be a bad thing. It is all long term and does not necessarily mean there will be more boats on the cuts.
I went fishing yesterday on one of our stretches of the T&M at Great Haywood. The stretch I fished is lined with moored boats on the far side; 12 months ago they were three a breast in areas with loads two a breast. Yesterday they were single file, except for one double. There is a brand new marina nearby and they are obviously using it.

Fair point Bill but you know where the fish will all end up shoaling at this time of year and most marinas wont let us in to fish! I dont know a single marina entrance that isnt a flyer. I suppose i shouldnt complain the way im supposed to draw (funny how many of them become flyers after the match! Image)

I reckon its strange how some canals respond to boats yet others its the kiss of death too...

I know what your saying EP but we can't have it all ways. From the experience of the Otherton one most of the carp have probably ended up in there. I can't think where I originally got this story from in the first place but I think the BW is favourite. I know I did some sort of story on it; it might have been two years back now.

Id love to have a go at the carp at Otherton. There's something magical about spotting great big fish swimming about in a winter canal...

yes jon i fear the worst in the summer, but if we don't fish them the boaters will have won.i often find when we have rested the canal the first match back courses the most problems like a boat will complain because he doesn't want to see a angler through his window or they have moored up on pegs.the more popular canals become the more we need them policing as most of the boaters don't understand what they can and can't do
