Fished on the Staffs / Worces canal at Penkridge  7 teams of 10 anglers ......... Rd 1

Overall team result i think ( Lloydy hopefully has full details  ;) )

1st  Shakespeare  16 pts
2nd Fox Match Tipton VDE  33 pts
3rd Saints 35 pts
=   4th Drennan NW & Tri Cast Highfield 43 pts
6th Sensas NW  44pts
7th Sensas Rod & Reel  66 pts

The canal fished really well with lots of big weights of siver fish in most sections, well done to shaky who turned in another awesome canal performance...............  ;)
and well done to Paul Turner and the Tipton lads for running a really good match    Image

As for me .......... Image my heart sank when i drew peg J5 on the tins at woodbank lane,  i somehow managed to beat a couple in my section with 3.8.0 of roach.........nuff said   :'( :'(

I had a grim day as well, drew above the lock at woodbank and thought it was a good draw till paul turner kindly informed me it was shite.
Managed to beat 1 with my 1.13.15 of mini gudgeon and got a proper lesson of rob middleton to my left on an end peg.
was a little dishartened to say the least last night

That result was bang on dodge. Glad the canal showed its true colours even though some still moaned. Shakys result was awsome well done to them, hope the rest of the league goes as well. Some didn't win a penny with 10 pound Image Image Image Image

How many canal matches do you go on where you catch 3lb to nearly finish last in worst section in 70 peg match

Ok,   couple of things i need to get off my chest so to speak ......   :(

This round was always going to be a struggle for us (sensas nw) as we have a small squad and probably only 4 or 5 allrounders in it and one of them is on paternity leave. It was decided when we entered this league that we would ask several herenbrook / cudmore regulars to fish for us on this round knowing 2 or 3 teams would do the same (which they did). To cut a long story short on the monday afternoon before this match all 5 anglers we brought in cried off for one reason or another leaving us with only 5 remaining anglers .......  Image.    After many expensive mobile calls etc , wednesday we had 6 anglers.....ditto 8 anglers thursday evening...............friday evening we have just about scraped 10 anglers together, all squad anglers from our team..... but 6 had never seen the venue before and were all bloodworm anglers !!!
It is very embarassing when your team comes last in any event and it is a sh!t feeling..........BUT for the sake of this event and this round we at Sensas NW GOT 10 men out....JUST, and although we did come last in a very tight contest, just a couple of fish here and there would of seen us finish much higher up..........i want to personally thank all the lads that turned out for us and got onto the bank  Image  one   lad even travelled all the way down from Lancaster to fish.........nice one alan  Image
I have had flu all week on top of all that man balls so i apologise to them who drew around me for all the coughing and snotting yeserday...........yes i drew THE worst section again on bridge pool where very few fish were caught, i managed 24lb lost 6 foulhooked barbel, 2 of which would of got me 2nd in section (28lb). At around 2.30 pm i began to wonder why i had bothered after being ill (my draw made me iller  Image) the sh!t week running around, phoning people....trying to earn a living.......... i could of took the family out yesterday, could of gone shopping  Image.

Eventually got home about 8.00 pm ......there was a take away meal and a cold beer for me waiting on the patio in the back garden which my wife had put out for me..................

i have some serious thinking to do Image

Know what you mean Dodge Image. Yesterday both me and dodge had shite draws, infact we had the two worst draws of the whole team yet again, was very very deflated last night regarding the result. We were saying on the way home as well that its amazing how some people always draw spot on. Now i know that your taypots and jamie hughes's etc are excellent anglers but you hardly see them on a bad peg, just how do they do it???

Dodge, on a high note, my old man said to me last night that we both must be due a proper flier soon, i'll have mine on the div 3 please ;)

Thats because you only notice the good uns Steve  :o so I'll take that as a compliment. :-* I reckon on most venues these days you've got a 1 in 4/5 chance of drawing on a peg that someone else will call a flyer. I've drawn crap in both rounds of the UK Champs so far this year but still somehow lying joint 4th. No one notices that, though...

Dodge, sounds like a bad week ringing around to find anglers and proves how unreliable ringers can be. Thats probably why they arent team anglers in the first place! Even my lot fielded a bare bones and understrength team at Heronbrook (like last year if memory serves me right) and ideally need a couple more commercial anglers, but the team has a strict squad ethos on numbers/ringers etc.

On the drawbag issue, i get to see the peg by peg results for the Warkshire winter league, FMS league and my teams of three and like Taypot said you only notice the better anglers when they draw good pegs, i notice them when they draw crap as well.

I reckon it takes 3 years for the drawbag to level it self out.

Over that period nearly all anglers will draw a certain amount of crap pegs, average pegs and flyers.

What i have noticed is that certain anglers draw well on certain matches/venues...

Two years ago Taypot drew very well on the FMS league yet on nearly all my matches he drew crap, last year Steve Faux drew well on the AT warks winter league and won the individual overall but on my teams of three drew very poor.

Is a compliment John, i rate you very highly as an angler and no offence intended. Just me gutted about my own poor draws and mediocre performances of current and giving it the Image Image Image

I wasnt offended. Probably just being bit blunt after being kept awake by some tw4t up the road's car alarm going off 5 times in the night. Thats about 5 days its done that now and every time when i want a good nights sleep. What's worse is that its only a crappy old B-reg Maestro so who'd wanna nick a pice of cr4p like that??? >:(

Thanks for the reply Jon ;) Image I am chillin :D

Steve, look and learn and dont have a pop at the lads that do well ......... drawing a good peg in a top match is one thing, doing a proper weight is another !!! The superleague is an ideal learning curve ....... use it ;)

Is it right that if you fish bloodworm on island pool for roach it ends up with you breaking your pole?

Island pool at heronbrook on the superleague lee ?

I think the angler who had a nightmare and came last in section with 12lb of roach threw a tantrum aswell  Image allegedly threatened to beat up an england international who happened to catch 104 lb opposite him and then break his pole over his knee !!!!!  It was very, very hot tho and the sun may of got to him  ::)   the cafe was a long way away aswell   Image

Anyone know where I can get a few pea sticks from.
I don't want many and carbon ones will do as that should retain heat and last longer.
I believe there is someone in the Manchester area giving the said artices away.
I am right or is this a sensas request?
