all i can say is please give it another chance, the good thing is march is still a long way off ::) ::)

Well done Joff. Shame it fished so hard. I actually quite enjoyed it and the obstacle course on the way to Peg 24 at Pillings helped work the Xmas Turkey off! Cant believe how many bonus perch there were in the first 30 pegs. Looks like i did OK with 1-13-8 (it wouldve been 2lb if the 3oz pike i caught on bloodworm counted!) ...and where did that bloody great marina spring up from??? Image

jon yesterday we fished in the town and it was just as bad mate so we packed up and headed to the marina in the photo just to see how big it is :o :o :o it surprised us all mate. we sat down in the lovely bar/ restaurant and some lovely food over looking the marina we must of sat there for a couple of hours and watched fish topping all over the place and not just small ones :o :o
funny thing was the girl [maria] serving the food had been a old school friend and as you do we got talking and cut a long story short ::) ::)the subject got onto fishing and i just said "are you allowed to fish in the marina"she answered" i don't think anyone has asked that question"and off she went and fetched the boss Image Imagethis was looking good at this stage Image Image
after a few minutes a young man came and answered the question oddly enough he was 100% boaters as some of them pay £3,000 a year to moor there :-/suddenly it wasn't looking quiet as good :-/until he said the word charity Imagematch so after another half a hour it was looking 50% BOATERS 50% ANGLING :) the lads had taken a walk around by this time and sorted out how many pegs we could use :P
so watch this space Image Image

take a look at the plans www.pillingslock.com he is interested and it would have to be under his rules like 13metre limit and no catapults Image Image
in the new year i will see if i can have a 20 peg match for a start just to see how the boaters react with him and then take it from there anglers will have to be vetted first so that wold rule woodworm out Image Image

Interesting stuff Joff, but on a serious note I was talking my mate the other day and he reckons his friend's company is building marinas like that all over the place now. It's big business. I've seen countless marinas spring up on my old Grand Union where i grew up. All the places we used to fish are now solid with boats from first light and even when its going dark! There's gonna be a lot more marinas and boats on all the canals in 5-10 years which doesn't bode well for the future of canal fishing. :'(
